Amy Johnson Veazey joined Managed Healthcare Resources in 2021.  

Amy Johnson Veazey joined Managed Healthcare Resources in 2021. Prior to consulting with MHR, Amy served as a manager on Anthem’s Corporate Clinical Quality Management team, where she acted as an internal consultant to assist Medicaid and Medicare plans prepare for NCQA surveys. This involved coordination with market-level business owners, documentation preparation, review and annotation, mock file reviews and onsite survey support. On an enterprise-wide scale, Amy was charged with ensuring all health plan websites and member handbooks were NCQA compliant. She also worked on the annual updates to the Quality Improvement trilogy templates. While there, she received three Anthem Star awards for high performance and mentoring junior staff.

Prior to Anthem, Amy was a manager on Aetna’s National Quality Management team, where she managed a team of professionals supporting accreditation of the Commercial and Medicare product lines. In this role, she signed off on enterprise-wide reports, supported the CAHPS survey process and supported onsite surveys by presenting appeal files for review.

Amy previously served as Assistant Director, Survey Management at NCQA, moving from Accreditation Manager to Assistant Director, Surveyor Management in three years. In this role, she supported complex surveys including corporate surveys, single site multiple entity (SSME) surveys and re-surveys. She managed a team of accreditation managers who served as accreditation survey coordinators (ASCs). She participated in NCQA’s Lean initiatives and consulted with the Review Oversight Committee (ROC) on atypical surveys. Amy also performed executive reviews and conducted final quality review of survey reports. One of her roles was to plan, coordinate, and facilitate corporate, national, and Single Site Multiple Entity (SSME) survey processes to maintain consistency and inter-rater reliability. Amy has been an NCQA administrative surveyor since 2001.

Amy holds advanced degrees of Master of Health Administration and Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University and BS degrees from WV Institute of Technology. She lives in Charleston, West Virginia with her husband, two teenage daughters and two dogs. In her free time, she enjoys hiking the Appalachian Mountains, volunteers at a private high school, and is a registered yoga instructor.
