Terri M. Delfs, AS

Terri has more than 20 years working in healthcare.  

Terri Delfs joined Managed Healthcare Resources in 2022 as an independent Healthcare Consultant. She has more than 20 years of working in healthcare, including 17 years in managed care quality and NCQA health plan accreditation. Terri has extensive experience with the NCQA accreditation standards and survey processes and is committed to helping clients succeed with survey submissions with integrity and responsiveness.

Before joining Managed Healthcare Resources, Terri spent 17 years with Sanford Health Plan in roles including quality and accreditation specialist lead. While there, she led NCQA programs for commercial and marketplace lines of business with a focus on quality improvement.

Terri also has worked with Medicaid and Medicare Advantage products regarding accreditation and regulatory requirements.

Enthusiastic about quality, engagement and collaboration, Terri has completed and maintained NCQA survey  readiness and gap assessments, identified strategies for gap closures, coordinated ongoing survey work, and provided training to internal business owners on NCQA standards. She facilitated work with one to-one meetings and through work groups across all departments and lines of business to attain accreditation readiness.

Terri also has experience preparing and conducting Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) medical record reviews as senior member of the abstraction team for Sanford Health Plan.

Terri earned an Associate degree in paralegal studies from Killian Community College and is currently preparing to take the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification exam. Prior to entering health care, Terri worked in the banking industry, building a fraud and investigative unit and established security policies/procedures to reduce fraud losses while maintaining regulatory compliance. She also developed policy and procedure infrastructure along with the internal auditing process to monitor staff and implemented internal mechanisms and reporting to monitor fraud risk, activity and losses, provided training to staff and analyzed data and developed leadership reporting.

She is a South Dakota native and lives in Iowa on a 10-acre hobby farm. Terri has a variety of pets
including African Nigerian Dwarf goats, Toulouse geese and Cairn Terriers. When not working, Terri enjoys time at home, traveling with her husband and spending time with their two grown sons.
