Lessely Brown-Schuler

Lessely Brown-Shuler is a healthcare leader and nurse executive with over 25 years of experience spanning clinical care, public health, regulatory compliance, and healthcare accreditation. Ā 

She brings specialized expertise in leading organizations through URAC accreditation, quality improvement, and performance optimization. Her clinical foundation is rooted in hands-on nursing roles across psychiatry, med-surg, oncology, rehabilitation, cardiology, and long-term care, which grounds her strategic leadership in patient-centered practice. Lessely joined MHR as an independent clinical consultant in June 2025.

From 2022 to 2024, Lessely served as a Clinical Accreditation Reviewer, leading URAC accreditation reviews across various domains, including care management, utilization review, mental health parity, telehealth, population health, credentialing, delegation oversight, and quality improvement. She facilitated virtual and onsite validation reviews, partnered with C-suite executives, provided compliance feedback, and produced post-survey reports to guide organizations through corrective actions and sustainable accreditation success. Her consultative role ensured alignment with URAC standards and national quality benchmarks, driving operational excellence for a wide range of healthcare entities.

Lessely is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from South Carolina State University. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing Informatics and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing Leadership and Management from Walden University, as well as a Master of Health Services Management from Webster University. Lessely is due to complete her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in May 2026. In addition to her clinical and academic credentials, she is a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant and an experienced leader in HEDIS abstraction, electronic health record optimization, and clinical informatics integration.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Lessely served as a Personnel Specialist, bringing the same discipline, commitment, and leadership from her military service into every aspect of her professional healthcare career.

Lessely resides in Charleston, SC, and enjoys plays, comedy shows, live music, traveling, and spending time with herĀ family.Ā
