Michael Barr, MD, MBA, MACP, FRCP

President & Founder of MEDIS, LLC, a veteran-owned, independent healthcare consulting company. For over 30 years, Dr. Barr has led teams in pursuit of better healthcare quality through programs, policies, services, and strategies designed to deliver equitable, accessible, evidence-based, and person-centered care.

Dr. Barr is a board-certified internal medicine physician licensed in MD, DC, and VA. From 2014 – 2021 he was Executive Vice President of Quality Measurement and Research at the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) following the American College of Physicians (ACP) as VP, Practice Advocacy & Improvement (2005 – 2010), and Senior Vice President, Medical Practice (2010 – 2014). Prior to ACP, Dr. Barr was Chief Medical Officer of
Baltimore Medical System, Inc. (1999 – 2005), Assistant Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (1993 – 1998), and an active-duty physician in the U.S. Air Force (1989 – 1993). He previously served on the Maryland Health Care Commission (2013 – 2015),
Vice Chair, and the ACP Medical Informatics Committee (2017 – 2021).

At NCQA, Dr. Barr’s portfolio included performance measurement development, research and analysis, management of contracts and grants, and NCQA’s consulting activities. Dr. Barr also led the digital measures strategy for HEDIS ® and contributed to NCQA’s other strategic initiatives, public policy, and educational programs.

As co-author of the ACP Advanced Medical Home policy paper (2006), Dr. Barr led ACP’s efforts to promote the Patient-Centered Medical Home and guided the development of programs and quality improvement initiatives including the ACP Practice Advisor, American EHR
Partners, ACP’s Genesis Registry, and practice resources.

Dr. Barr is currently a member of the Maryland Primary Care Program Advisory Council (MDPCP), Executive Physician Advisor to GTMRx Institute, Scientific Advisor for Uneo, Inc., and Quality Consultant for Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP).

Dr. Barr is a Master of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London.

Hemant Lanjewar, MHSA

Hemant Lanjewar, MHSA is the founder and CEO of JustCQ Inc., a healthcare digital solutions and clinical programs consulting company. The innovative solutions help payors streamline programs to attain and maintain year-round  compliance with regulatory requirements.

Hemant Lanjewar is a senior clinical quality health plan executive with 18+ years' experience in developing and implementing strategies to improve quality program rankings for Medicare Star Ratings, Medicaid Quality Incentive Award programs, and Quality Rating System for Exchange products. He has helped several small and large health plans reconfigure their clinical quality programs for improving effectiveness and built strong stakeholder partnerships and motivated, productive teams. 

Hemant has served in leadership roles in multiple organizations overseeing corporate initiatives for Medicare stars, and managed clinical quality, clinical informatics, appeals and grievances, and program compliance functions. He has a track record of significant improvement in quality scores at health plans for several years thereby improving their star ratings and/or state rankings and earning them additional revenue. He has stool up clinical informatics units at several health plans to support the analytical and reporting needs for clinical areas. Hemant has expertise and experience in HEDIS measurement and improvement, Medicare Stars program, SNP Model of Care, NCQA health plan accreditation, regulatory compliance, provider engagement, and data analytics.   

Hemant earned a Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) from the University of Michigan.  He held a three-year residency in Preventative & Social Medicine (MD) and received a Bachelor of Clinical Medicine (MBBS) (Equivalent to MD in US) from Nagpur University in India.
