Finding the Sweet Spot Between What You Need and What We Do Best

Kevin Stirtz once said, “Know what your customers want most and what your company does best. Focus on where those two meet.” That quote perfectly captures where MHR is headed next.

Back in April, I shared the exciting news about our upcoming Staff Augmentation service. We’re getting closer to launch, and our goal is to grow this offering over time. During our most recent complimentary webinar, I also announced that MHR will be expanding into URAC consulting services, building on our strong foundation in NCQA. Let’s take a closer look at both.

Staff Augmentation That Works When You Need It Most

It’s a familiar story: A key team member leaves, and along with them goes valuable knowledge. You’re left trying to meet tight deadlines, manage look-back periods, and prepare for scheduled surveys, without the proper support. Whether you’re trying to write reports, conduct analyses, or audit files, the pressure can be overwhelming.

The good news is, you already know what you need, and we’re the consulting firm that does it best. We’ve stepped into these situations many times and helped clients stay on track. Now, with our Staff Augmentation service, we’re scaling our ability to support more clients, with access to experienced professionals who can make an immediate impact.

Although we have candidates going through our evaluation process, we’re always looking for both clinical and non-clinical professionals, especially those with experience in health plan and utilization management. If this sounds like the kind of work you’d love to do, let’s connect. Visit our Careers page to explore the possibilities and requirements for resume submission.

Hiring for NCQA Accreditation? You’re Not Alone.

Hiring for NCQA roles isn’t always straightforward. Maybe you’ve searched long and hard for the right candidate and eventually hired someone who wasn’t just what you wanted, but you were desperate and willing to try to make it work. Maybe you’ve promoted someone internally based on their potential, only to find the match wasn’t quite right. There is so much loss of momentum, missed deadlines, knowledge deficits, and so much more when the wrong person is in the Accreditation role. You need a goodness of fit.

If any of that sounds familiar, I strongly encourage you to watch the recording of our most recent complimentary webinar from June 12, 2025. In the session, I walk through why a comprehensive approach to Accreditation hiring is essential, and why you shouldn’t cut corners or base hiring decisions solely on personality. I like data-driven processes and tend to be risk-averse. The wrong person in a pivotal role can wreak havoc on your Accreditation. I always say that if you want to gamble, go to Vegas. Gambling on getting the right person without some proven methods is highly risky. After ten years of working on hiring, I’ve finally found a proven method for getting the right person in the right seat. Visit our Events page to watch the recording and download our helpful resource on DISC Assessment.

We’re Back to URAC Consulting—And Stronger Than Ever

When I launched MHR in 1991, I was consulting on both NCQA and URAC. Over time, I focused on NCQA to better manage the demands of work, travel, and raising a young family.

Now, 34 years later, we’re returning to URAC—because that’s what our clients want most. They’re looking for a trusted partner who can expertly guide them through both NCQA and URAC with efficiency and excellence. Having two consulting firms to divide up the work of two Accreditations can waste money on teaching both about your organization. That's why I originally added URAC to NCQA preparation: to save the client money, given that we already knew their organization. You need an integrated approach. That’s exactly what MHR delivers.

We’ve retained two consultants with recent URAC reviewing experience who, together, have hundreds of reviews under their belt to bring that current knowledge of URAC processes that you have experienced with our NCQA consultants, who are current NCQA surveyors. Their knowledge is deep in how URAC works and how to apply the standards, as well as how to navigate sometimes complex situations. URAC employs its reviewers, unlike NCQA, which contracts with those in the trenches.

MHR: Your Trusted Accreditation Consulting Partner

MHR CONSULTATION + TOOLS + TRAINING = NCQA SUCCESS

MHR was incorporated in 1991 and specializes in preparing organizations for all NCQA accreditation and certification products.

All MHR consultants were responsible for NCQA accreditation in their previous roles before joining MHR as an independent consultant. Most consultants are also NCQA surveyors and the majority are clinicians. Read more about How We Work!
