What is the greatest challenge facing your organization?  Is your team prepared to transform your organization to meet the needs of your diverse population? When was the last time you had a training plan?

When we published our January 2023 blog on Invest in NCQA Training-Build Value, we explained how investing in staff training on NCQA is a value-added strategy that helps reduce risk to the organization.

In working with organizations that did not prioritize training, MHR consultants found that:

  • Some executive leadership assumed that staff had the knowledge and skills they needed since managing NCQA surveys in the past.
  • Succession planning for NCQA Quality Leads was not in place.
  • Bench strength was lacking due to high employee turnover.
  • Staff failed to fully understand and interpret the standards.

Where does your organization stand? When organizations plan for annual training on NCQA standards, we believe they are more likely to succeed in their pursuit and sustainment of NCQA Accreditation.

Here are some common questions that arise regarding training.

Can any organization or individual schedule training with MHR?

MHR’s training programs are currently open only to our contracted clients.

Who needs training on NCQA standards?

Everyone. The depth and breadth of training varies, depending on role and prior experience.  Standards may change during the year. Application of the requirements becomes more rigorous and surveyors are updated four times a year on these updates and applications.

What standards should be included in the organization’s training?

All employees should be aware of the basics of NCQA and the organization’s goals and strategy for achieving accreditation. Thereafter, it can be targeted.

When is the best time to train an organization on NCQA?

The best times to train are before your look-back period begins and after new standards are published.

How does MHR administer its training sessions?

MHR offers virtual training on its learning management web platform.

Is there a limit on the number of attendees per session?

There is no limit on attendees for virtual sessions.

What course materials does the organization receive?

MHR provides course materials in advance for your distribution and for some courses, pre-work exercises, or other guidelines.

Is a recording of the training session available?

Yes, recordings are available 45 days after the session on MHR’s learning management web platform.

Why do we need annual training when NCQA surveys are typically held every three years?

Most NCQA standards are published annually, and new standards may be added and existing ones deleted, clarified, or corrected. Training for new leadership, Quality Leads, and staff should also be timely.

What does MHR charge for training?

MHR discusses training needs and fees with clients during our contracted engagement.

Where can I learn more about MHR’s training sessions?

Simply go to Training Products on our website or ask your MHR consultant.
